I am Owner, CEO, and Counselor extraordinaire at The Study Inc. in Chandigarh, India.
As a professional counselor for 16 years – Ten years as the regional head of The Chopras (TC Global Solutions) and the later in an independent capacity – I’ve delivered numerous workshops to schools, and advised parents and students about careers and college destinations across the globe.

Why I Counsel
I realized that college applications were overwhelming when my boys were applying to universities.
The endless process of preparing for the SAT/ACT, building a profile, deciding a major, arriving at a comprehensive college list, structuring letters of recommendation, writing the 30 odd essays and researching the USPs of the various universities was exhausting!
Aside from the nagging doubt that perhaps more needed to be done because they were going away and I wanted to be sure that they would be happy in the college of their choice.
Watching a strong individual emerge during the course of the application process is what I enjoy most.
Getting the student to find his voice and mojo is what drives me. Interestingly, the most important takeaway was the understanding that the process requires a deep and meaningful interaction with the student and the parent as one navigates through their collective fears, doubts, and aspirations.
Everybody wants to be in the best place, but bringing them to that place and addressing issues of comparison, competition, and expectation is key to counseling because no two students are alike.

I Specialize in Bespoke Counseling
I believe that grasping the aspirations and dreams of any student cannot happen based on a generic format a sort of one fit for all forms. So, it was going to be Bespoke counseling for my students and their families.
I love having the family over, sometimes it is even a close friend and his family! I find myself moving from the office to a more expansive seating area, discussing family issues, work and even cooking and movies! Every detail is observed and factored in, to arrive at a nuanced understanding of what the aspirations are and how they need to be translated and leveraged for the best outcome.
My focus is to put the student and the parents at ease, allay their fears and bring them to a place of confidence. The college application is then a strong, creative, comprehensive, holistic representation of the student.
Counseling isn’t just about finding the right course or college, it is about trust and honesty. It is about building a strong individual – its a process of changing and being changed.
Workshops

Takeaway
My particular skill set has given me the bandwidth and sensibility to coax my students into "spilling the beans" regarding their doubts and aspirations. My students inevitably form a strong bond with me and trust that they will arrive at the college that best represents their aspirations.
